By far the greatest of his time. A 6'2" 215 lb. player from Baltimore is calling it quits for the MLB. A pitcher with the aspiration to be greater than anyone to enter the league has decided his record is worth standing in its place. Some would even argue he succeeded with his goals.
With over 1330 strike outs and 2873 hits in 2503 games played, you can imagine why the Red Sox pitcher would want to retire. The sport can be taxing the older you get. And there are a lot of years behind this individual considering he entered the league at the age of 19. Yes, 10 World Series appearances is enough for Babe Ruth. Now it's time to pass down his legacy.
