Don Knotts Dead At 81

Jesse Donald Knotts, best known for his role as Deputy Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show, has just passed away. Doctors say Knotts was hospitalized due to pulmonary and respiratory complications. He passed away last night at the age of 81.
With over a half century of tv appearances, Knotts will be remembered as that nerdy loveable character. Knotts began his career in television on the Andy Griffith Show back in 1960, although appearing in various movies years prior. Following his role he appeared in 7 other series and over 25 films. With 5 Emmy Awards, he is one of the most beloved characters of his time.
In recent years, Knotts stated that he had no plans to retire. He traveled frequently with theatre productions and appeared on various entertainment shows. Now, Knotts has only one finale booking. He will be appearing at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary in Los Angeles. Tickets are available for his finale performance before he goes underground.
